.the synopsis.
With an original score and dynamic puppetry Refuge, is a bilingual border play that follows a South Texas Rancher who finds an undocumented teenage migrant from Honduras passed out on his land, a pregnant Latina border patrol agent who is trying to find someone lost in the desert, and the animals who are just trying to survive – as everything is illegal in the desert.
Co-created with Andrew Rosendorf, with translations by Mari Meza Burgos, Refuge, has been produced at Curious Theatre, Theo Ubique Cabaret, Unicorn Theatre, and Theatre Lab FAU and received several awards, including an NNPN Rolling World Premiere, the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Award, Venturous Theater Fund Grant, a MAP Fund Grant, a True West Award and multiple Jeff Awards (including Best Original Music in a Play, Best Ensemble, and Best Artistic Specialization for Puppetry)
